I am having trouble with the final battle. Before it gets going I summon 3 elementals, but if i try for a forth it will inform me I can only have 5 monsters under my control, and will not let me summon anything else until one elemental dies. I have been able to win previous battles with this limitation, but this battle is being difficult. Is this part of the game or a glitch on my system?

Any help with this would be welcome along with any other advice on how to win the last battle.

it sounds like some bugger (probly kangaxx) imprisoned some of your summonings at some point. you should always cast freedom after a hostile has been casting imprisonment, since imprisoned summons never die/unsummon. earlier discussions on this topic came to the conclusion that there is no work around, although teambg _might_ have a tool to allow low-level editing of your save game, in which case you could remove the offending creatures. woudnt bet on it working though.

on to the battle. you really want to have ToB installed for this, because 3 warriors deploying whirlwinds can easily remove those demons, allowing your mages (and surviving warriors) to dust irenicus. unfortunatly, irenicus himself is very tough. you want to avoid him and let his protctions run out several times, and even then you dont want to take him on one-on-one.

(NB if your in the ToB final battle instead by any chance, you dont want elementals anyway, use mordkainens swords and minor deities instead.)

a sequencer with 3 skull traps is enough to kill irenicus... which i was very disappointed about
