Best Characters

I'm trying to figure the best characters in the game. I want three hand to hand combat characters, and three spell casting characters. My created guy is a Conjurer. Right now I have Edwin the Conjurer, my dude the Conjurer, then I dropped Imoen the Priest/Mage but she was alright because she was a priest. And I now have four fighters: Minsc, Amoen, Vilgar (the black guy), and the thief that look asian umm, he's the guy I got like right at the start of the game. I guess it would be really hard for you to help me but I'll ask of you question so you can just answer them:
1. Who are the best hand to hand combatants in the game (I like double classes too like Amoen is cool)?
2. Is there anyone better than Edwin as a mage?
3. Should I take Imoen the Priest/Mage back cause with two conjurers I don't have anyone with identify (100gp for each at a temple)?
4. Is this 3 fighter, three mage combo good? And if not what should it be?

the best fighters in the game are probably korgan, and minsc, you can keep amoen because he can boost his fighting skills with his priest spells
ummmmm, i think when your talking about the mage/priest your talking about aeire, imoen is theif/mage
the best mage in the game is edwin(sooo many slots)and nalia, shes dualed from thief
but if you want anomen as a pure cleric then you should keep valygar (remember to give him the celestial fury) , you just need to give him the dexterity gauntlets from teh ghoul city

It seems you have two top mages and probably don't want more. You need a thief of some sort. This leaves you with Yoshimo.
Now you can't have three fighters because then you would have no healer. You definitely need a cleric to reverse some nasty effects of level drain and the like. So take Amoen since he is a decent fighter as well.
Take Valygar and possibly Korgan, or Valygar and Minsc for your front line depending on your preference.

3 fighter abd 3 mage right?
my opinion is that you should get more mage but they aren't provided by the game

thus I would say

Valygar
Keldorn (Paladin need gauntets of Dexterety)
Anomen (your main Priest)
Jan (thief illutionst gets a boots in his thief skill by his equipment)
Edwin
and You

My party consists of me (Level 10 fighter)
Minsc
Keldorn
Jaheira
Jan Jansen
Aerie

But Valygar is damn good, also I dual classed Yoshimo to a fighter and he was basically Valygar
