In Durlag's Tower I found a "Staff Spear +2" which requires a profientcy of "Staff". But staff is not one of the options for profientcies. Is this a typo? I would think it uses a spear profientcy.

I saw the same typo. I am assuming that it is a typo...uuuh...well...maybe its not....uuuuh...Its gotta be, damnit.. oh damn.. I need some answers to!!!I wish the brains of this game talked on this forum to. The platform of this game is so huge, you never know if something is supposed to be there or if you missed something or what!!

staff spear, staff mace etc are all in the war staff (aka staff sling) category. In BG2, this has (mostly) been corrected.

By experimentation the Staff Spear arrears to use "Blunt" proficientcy. It is even usable by a Druid (Jahara). Talk about non-intuitive!

I thought Druids could use a spear? After all it is a natural weapon. If they can use darts they can use piercing weapons. Maybe you were thinking of a cleric.
