What is the rate that a fighter gains *'s? Every other level?

I'm wondering when to dual to a druid. Some FAQs say to do it at 13, but the problem is that levels 11-13 are pretty tough to get to. I don't want to get back my fighter abilities at the end of the game.

Now I have GM in scimitars, and 2 *'s in slings (level 9), no *'s in Sword and Shield style. Advice? Should I dual now or wait?

If youre worried about losing fighter abilities later on, then perhaps you should employ an NPC cleric such as Jaihera or Anomen.
Dualling is always a personal fave choice, there is no real right or wrong way to and when to do it. Remember that if you wait until lv13 fighter and then dual, you cant use his/her abilities until your dual-class character reaches the same level.

My advice, if you want to dual to cleric, do it at about lv10 depending on your partys strength and whereabouts in the game you are.

If you dual to Cleric, you may lose some of those precious *s as well

Fighters get one new weapon proficiency (*) every third level. So level 3, 6, 9, 12, and so on.

For dualing to druid I've always considered level 13 the best, because then you can still reach druid level 14 within the SoA experience cap. This will be pretty late in the game though, so if you want your fighting abilities back sooner you'll just have to dual earlier. You'll lose out on some thac0 and HP then, and probably a proficiency.

I think 13 is a good level to dual to a druid. But I would have dualled to something else, and just "hire" Cernd.

Cernd is useless. Especially when compaired with a fighter/druid level 13/14.
