Hi all...
Some 4 years ago I played RA2 on Windows 95 (without Yuri's Revenge)and was fine. Then later I played YR on Windows ME... also ok. Now again I started both. This time on windows xp. Everything *seemed* fine in the Allied campaign, then in the russian campaign of RA2. Except when I reached level 11 Russian. The level movie wont play properly. I skipped it and started the level. Seemed to play okay except when it reached "receiving incoming transmission" the game would crash with an error. I tried again. Reinstalled. tried with and without patch. Tried with and without YR. Tried on Windows 98 and XP (have dual boot). Nothing. Then I noticed that there are actually other problems. 1) All allied vehicles sounds are same (same as that of Grizzly tank). IFVs, mirage tanks, prism tanks, MCVs... all same sounds. Similarly russian vehicles (all same sound as that of rhino tank) and ships(all same sound as that of... submarines?). 2) There is no music in Russian campaign. In the end I thought CD must be scratched and some file corrupted (had this problem in other games). However I checked CD for scratches and its clean. I then copied all files from CD to HD and all copied properly. Which means it's *NOT* defective CD because if so I wouldnt be able to copy the files. I ended up getting a no cd crack to be able to finish it. The crack required some files to be copied from cd to hd for everything to work. I did so. But then had to remove the file movies02.mix (copied from cd) so that movies won't appear at all (otherwise I'd get same error), and finished the last 2 levels without any movies. And btw, YR is playing fine. Music, movies, sound and all. But in RA2 the problem's still there. All help is appreciated.

You could try setting WinXP to play the game in an Win98 environment.
