Sad

The other day I was crusing through the gamespy website digging up info on games as usual. I came across a link to the 25 most underated games of all times. I accidently clicked on Planescape Torment. I have heard some mention of it here in Ironworks. I heard it was really good but I heard from somehwere that it was really dull. Is the game as good the BG series?

BlackIsle made it. Do I really need to say more?

Actually it's an awsome game, based more on dialogue choices than combat. Only three classes for your character and you can interchange between them throughout the game.

Random bit of advice. put a bunch of points into Int and or wisdom for your character.

It's probably the best game ever to see the light of day (after Tetris ).

Its somewhere beyond excellent. I used to rate it above BG2, but Bg2s mods give it an edge these days.

Its a plot heavy game, and so dosent appeal to those players more inclined towards hitting everything with a sharp piece of metal. Its also important to play a character with high mental stats - INT, WIS - since that opens up more of the plot.

PS:T have less battles, more talk, more interaction with party members and a more complex story than the BG games. The BG games are more of epic sagas, while PS:T is a much more 'intelligent' game.

Yes, it's one of the best RPG's ever but not for everybody, perhaps.

It is an outstanding game, as long as you realize one thing: you are playing through a story. Yes, every other game is like that, but in this game the story is everything. The gameplay is pretty linear, you play the same character each time (but customize his stats and can switch classes), and everything is about gathering information through conversation. However, what makes it great is the depth of story and the depth of the NPCs you deal with. All of your party members are fleshed out; you can spend a long time just speaking to the other party members and finding out new information. Your stats are everything; you have to have certain stats to be able to get certain options. Since you find out the most through conversation, Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma are all important. The story is very intricate, but with all of the talking (instead of lots of heavy fighting), there are those out there that can find it boring. That's why it never did so well, despite being a good game. You can find it in some bargain bins and used game sellers, so should be pretty cheap.

Not a bad game, have too much conservation imo, sometimes finding yourself wandering in dark and gloomy places, confusing storyline at times. other than that the game is okay.

Actually, didn't Interplay stop supporting PS:T? I got it just before Christmas, but I couldn't find any nowadays...

It is truly a masterpiece among RPGs. Most of the people who say it's dull say that because they haven't finished the game, or if they finished the game, they didn't UNDERSTAND it. It is like a book -- only that you're the protagonist. Were it a book, it would be appreciated as much as it should be.

Anyway, if you like Roleplay, then get this!
