What is the best and least time consuming way to get different content results when you are opening a treasure chest? The only chests I have seen that ever gives any decent loot is in the Queen's chamber. I have gotten an extra Zoitachi Bo and Muramasa Blade (sp?), but by this point, it did not make sense to change professions to a Samurai.

I have heard that Davey Jones Locker will occassionally provide an Excalibur. Every time I place a portal in front of that chest and pop in and out of the level, I get the same results. Do you have to walk all the way out and back in to vary the results?

I usually run a monk with bare hands, a fighter to melee, and a farie ninja with the cane of corpus as my front line. I am thinking of replacing the monk with a samurai on my next run thru, but only if I can find an efficient way to get a maramasa blade for the samurai, excaliber for my fighter so that the samurai can use the ivory blade, or something else so the samurai is not using some substandard hand me down when my fighter finds a better sword.

My goal is to guarantee finding a Maramasa Blade for a samurai because I would like to see how effective it is in this game. It was fairly dissappointing in Wiz 7, but so was a monk fighting with bare hands. My monks always jam, but I am wanting something different.

Thanks

From my experience the more exotic weapons are not guaranteed, in fact its usual to play through the game and find none of them.

Most of the heavier artifact chests such as Davy Jones are set the very first time you enter the area, and stay that way, so going back and forth to the area makes no difference, the only way to change the contents is to reload from a save before you ever visited the area.

I do relate to how hard it is to change and play different professions when you have found ones that work for you. I get on well with a Hobbit Rogue but keep wanting to play as a Samurai, but every time I start the Sam is useless and I restart again with the Rogue!

I could be wrong, but I think once you enter the zone where the chest is the treasure "fixes" - so utilizing the teleport won't work.

For davey jones locker I always save in the tunnels b4 the next zone, then move into that zone, jump down, and hug the right wall. I run as fast as I can when you know who engages for combat - running into the alcove and moving as far back in the alcove so that you can "escape" combat unscathed. Then I save again (w/out erase-ing the save b4 the zone) and then open the locker. If I like what I see, then I go make a can of starkist out of you know who.

IMO excalibur isn't worth it, but the ring of regeneration is.

Muramasa will only appear in the queens chest, and indeed the only way to get new items in there is saving before entering rapax upper castle, do a quick run to the chest, and check if you like what you see.

A chest which most people would say is decently filled with loot as well is the single sentry hut in bayjin (*light*). There are many other chests which can make reloading worthwhile, depending on your goals/etc. (my solo bishop even did a few reloads for the mana stone at he'li).

if you don't want to take your chances, you can always use an editor.

btw, I think the manual says that on expert difficulty you have a better chance at getting treasure. how that affects the charts on flamestryke's site, I don't know.

If you want the gooood stuff from chests, apart from using an editor or by reloading, try the following:

- Adopt a religion and pray to your god for good items.

- Buy or find a four-leaf clover, a rabbit's foot, a horseshoe, and a grasshopper.

- Stay away from black cats, ladders, mirrors and lawyers.

- Wish apon a falling star, knock on wood, and toss salt over your shoulder.

- Hold your breath, stand on your head and drink a glass of water...... wait that's for hiccups.

- Formulate a new spell to increase your chances of getting the treasure

Huh? What do you mean there's no such thing as spells in real life? What is real life anyway? Is it somewhere on Dominus?
