After fighting the Ghosts on Bayjin shallows many times I finally gave up on the sword. Then I was going through the huts in bayjin and found it in chest in one of the central huts! This is the first time I've had it and it looks good. Keep an eye out for it here 'cos I've never heard any mention of it being there.

I was under the impression that the Bayjin chest is the only place the *Sword* shows up, and that it is the *Shield* that you get from the Buccaneer Ghosts in the Shallows. I've also only seen the *Sword* once, and it was from the chest in Bayjin.

I may be wrong, but I'm sure there were some posts last week where someone tried to get both from the Buccaneer Ghosts?

You know, I don't think I've ever even seen the Cane of Corpus!

As far as I know, the only way to get the CoC is as a drop when you kill the Ratkin Don. I did a party with a Ninja Fairy just to use it. It rocks. I've yet to get the light sword, but I have gotten Excaliber, and that my friend is a most beeeutiful sword! in my Tink's hands, WHOA! topped with power strike...it's unreal!....sorry...having a moment. LOL

You can get the Light sword from both Bayjin chest and the Buccaneer ghosts. though your chances are very very slim.

I've never gotten it from the chest (but I have gotten the shield there several times).

I have gotten if from a drop off of the Ghosts, took about 2 1/2 hours of reloading just b4 the battle AND I was killing them fairly quickly - whent through about 30 reloads I'd say. Not really worth it as it is nothing more than an enhanced damage version of Fang. Sells really well though.

The odd thing is that usually takes almost as many reloads with greater difficulty to get the shield. Then on one occasion, after getting the shield in the chest, I got a second shield immeadiatly afterward from the Helazoid woman...go figure.

Overall I'd have to say the shield is far more worthwhile to keep.

Ive got the lightsword twice from the bucaneer drop, thats the only place i have seen it. Last time i tried for about 6 hours to get the lightsword to no avil. Its a great sword, but it just is NOT worth waiting for the random drop.

Hi everybody, I just found this forum, it's the best one ive seen in a while and i'm glad to be on board.
For those of you who really want the light sword and/ or shield i found an effective way to get it/them, hopefully...
Enter combat with the ghosts, throw up a soul shield and element shield, then the next combat round move to where you can hit all the ghosts with cone or area effect spells. Wittle down the ghosts hit points until the low teens or single digits (try not to kill any of them) then run away. now combat ends., sneek back up to just before you will encounter them again, save game, now it's simple, just jump out of your hiding place run up to the ghosts and wham, next round there all dead. sometimes i get 3-5 bags of goodies sometimes nothing. either way the combat only lasts a couple of minutes a try. If your patient you will get the light sword and/or shield. I got them both within one hour.

I did the same thing as farseer, after trying about 15x, I stopped and went back to the swamp and then to bayjin. after looking around and finding a chest outside with nothing good in it, i went to the hut and found a chest. upon oppening the chest i was amazed to find the *light* *sword*, i put it on my samurai and was wondering i have a fighter and a samuari, right now my fight has fang and my samuari has the demonsbane. should i give the light sword to my samauri and go looking for excaliber? or should i give the light sword to my fighter?

I gave the light sword to my samerai. Mind you i'm keeping his weight down to maximize lightning strike. He is wearing only leather boots, enchanted robes i found in a cave, two amulets of healing +3 AC each, and a cloak of many colors, and the helm of serinity, in his inventory i keep 3 restoration potions and 3 cure poison and nothing else. I keep my party inventory a light as possible and let me tell you, my samerai kicks serious butt. and get this, he has never died yet (knock on wood).
