*** SPOILER WARNING ***

In upper Trynton, I killed level 20 Don Something-or-other at level 10 (or rather, after many retries, my canned elemental did it), and it started to tell me about faction hits and help from characters that I haven't met. Did I mess things up by killing him this early? Are there people I need to talk to who will just try to kill me now? I have the game saved just before I did this, so I'd like to know if I should just reload it from there... Thanks.

Most of the game NPCs and some no-specific-name "monsters" (e.g. town guards, rapax, etc) are tied to one "faction" or another, and if you kill one of them your relations with that faction go way down. If hostile, they will attack you on sight.

You don't *need* the Don if you get the artifact he promised to procure for you. If for some bizarre reason it wasn't on his body when he died, then you would have a problem. His faction (the Rakuza) are Rat gangsters who will occasionally show up to harass you, but you don't need their cooperation or support if you have the artifact. (And I'm not talking about the Cane...)

Speaking of the Cane, I would presume that it's the reason you tried so hard to kill the Don?

Just kill that rat b****rd! But as Morlac says, make sure he dropped the *THING* I don't even think that killing Don Barlone affects your faction rating with the Razuka; I think only killing the breeders does, or I guess any of the "Razuka Common" (IIRC, but I may be wrong).

As far as I remember, killing rattkin breeders makes hostile only the rattkin, the Razuka (rattkin "Mafia") are unconcerned.

Greetings,

Right, the ordinary rats are neutral until you kill the breeders, after which, they come after you. The Don and his Razuka pals couldn't care less (rather odd, when you think about it).

Wait, I have to contradict what you just read.

If you killed don corleone before you met the dark savant, you made a mistake yes.

Reload your game. You need to have don coleone either sell you the astral dominae or kill him to get it.

Not true.
If you kill him before you met the savant, he drops the astral dominae nonetheless.

that's right, and you don't need to pay him 90000 for the astral dominae.

I've been confusing razuka with ratkin. I guess razuka-propper are those rats that have actual propper names. So, I guess I should have said that killing Don Barlone doesn't affect your faction rating with the ratkins. Actually, now that I think of it, you meet razuka gangs on the road here and there if you've killed the Don and stollen the AD. So here's how it is: theres two types of rats; they look exactly the same; one is called Razuka and the other is called Ratkin. Breeders are Ratkin, Don Barlone & Co. are Razuka; neither has anything to do with the other.

Does that sound right?

Yes, except that you will meet the rakuza gangs on the road asking for shakedown money *even* if you bought the AD from Don Barlone fairly. Quite annoying, erally, and why I never feel bad about killing the Don...
