Alright, why does my game close down in the middle of things? Is there a patch? Or will I have to consign Morrowind to my pile of "Good games that can't be playted because of stupid bugs"?

Alright, now I have ANOTHER problem. When trying to install the patch, I get to 17% and the message: Old file not found. However a new file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match.

Nice sig Kat!

I don't know how to fix your patch problems since I haven't patched, but I asked the same question about the spontanteous dump outs when I started playing and was told there's no patch to fix it, it just happens and the only thing you can do is save often. I don't know if it's been updated since then (few weeks ago) however.

But I don't think you need to put morrowind away just because of this. Unless it's happening much more frequently for you, I find it irritating but not game-threatening. I was already in the habit of quick-saving every while or so, because I live in fear of redoing things if I die , especially the 'load exterior' bit - very tedious. I find I only get dumped out once a session if that, sometimes not at all. And IMNSHO, it's too good a game to stop playing just because of that

Nice sig Kaltia. that's a beautiful cat you have there.

I have teories of why the crashing happen, one teory is that if you know scripting, there's a bug with the equip function. it will sometimes caused the game to crash. unfortunately no patch can fully fix this. so save your game often.

Yep, save game often. No other solution.
These crashes can be quite annoying, but the game is simply great... play it anyway.

My game crashes nearly every time I fight, more frequantly if I'm DARING to fight TWO enemies at a time!
It's driving me nuts...
