Alright, I have been doing my best here and I was wondering about this great ability known as Gadgeteering.. how does th gadeteer change his MK or make new gadgets... I have all these items that cant be used for anything else and they just sit there... and what about duplicate gadgets? I dunno just thought that I would ask.. and also the ability to mix potions for an Alchemist... is that just myth or what?

First off, welcome to Escape! [img]graemlins/thewave.gif[/img]

Gadgeteers' use the engineering skill to use their gadgets and to make them. To make gadgets, you need to use the "merge" action on the inventory screen, and use two compatible items. Alchemists mix potions when you rest, I think...never used one soooo...*shrug*

Success of merging gadgets or potions depends on Engineering/Alchemy level of your character.

Pure alchs are said to occasionally generate a random potion. Dunno, as I favor bishops.

But remember, your gadge [or alch. or ninja etc.] needs a certain level of skill to successfully merge anything, and the better the end product, the more skill it takes to make it.

Great early merge [for alch and alch relateds] is lt heal+mod heal=hvy heal.

Very profitable one is sneeze powder+flash powder=pandemonium powder

And lt heal+mod heal=hvy heal+cure disease= potion of restoration: very nice.

Gadg wise, one of the first devices is doll+hinged box=jack in the box [terror](both in arnika, I think), and porthole+hinged pot=port-a-potty [noxious fumes](arnika and lower martins)

Oh, the gadg will update the omnigun as his skill increases-- you just see a short onscreen message, easy to miss. By the end of the game its great: can shoot darts, arrows, everything but shuriken, and fires mulitple times per round.

All this is from memory, and I haven't actually loaded this game in a month or so, so forgive but point out any errors, please.

Oru

EDIT: meant to mention the Alch/bish/etc is the key to $$$: easy to mix enough stuff to keep your party well equipped {you'll want at least $500,000 to spend when you hit Ferro's} and its a good skill boost, too. Gadge items don't seem to generate much profit...
