key recieved after handing over dwemer puzzle box

when i returned the puzzle box to the fighter's guild, the guy said he would make up a key, which i now have. i am intrigued as to what goodies i can get, but i don't know where the door is...

i looked to see if anyone has mentioned where the door to this key is on this site but couldn't find it. i've spent many hours circling around arkngthand looking for the lower level. do you need to go back through the hall of centrifuge door and the lower level is in there, or is the lower level somewhere outside.

can someone please point me in the right direction?

If i recall correctly, the locked door to the lower level is near where you found the box. When you come into the dungeon and are in the big entrance room, the puzzle box is on the middle level (you have to walk across a ramp/bridge to get there). On the lower levels are three doors. Behind the doors is the main part of the dungeon and somewhere down there is the door I think you are looking for.
Of course, I never did explore the entire dungeon. I was fairly low level so I just got the box and got out. I do recall coming across a door I couldn't open (lock of 75 or something). I think that is the door the key opens.

right on, i had a feeling it wasn't outside the dungeon, i wonder what's inside that room hmm...

I entered the door and found those mechanical robots and spiders, as well as some sort of spirit thing. After killing a couple spiders I got my ass kicked bad! I'll have to go back when I level up more...

Make sure that you are a high enough level bfore you go exploring the caves. There are alot of ghosts and other nasty dwarven machines. It is worth the effort since you will be to find some dwarven armour ad other worthwhie artifacts.
