at what level does shoplifting start working reasonably well?

Everytime i shoplift i get caught. Im using a bard and have pickpocketing at 40 or so. Also what do you guys do when you piss off a storekeeper into a fight, reload?

if you have patched and the newest version there is no chance.Once, I had Myls, PP 70 DEX 100 SPD 90..no way reloading is not worth. At the beginning, I thought that would be a probelm but later on you get so much money that you dont have to steal. If you don't have the latest patch, you are able to steal with very few PP..
Normally I buy all i need..if the price is okay, not like in Ascension Peak, where a trynnie wants 100.000 for a golem which is mising all the time and only blocks the way.

Yeah, if you have installed one of the later patches, stealing is very hard. But if the game isn't patched yet, then you can do things.

Money is mostly a problem early on. If you have an alchemist, or anyone who knows alchemy in the party, you can mix cheap potions to make better ones and sell them.

Hi,

I have the latest patch installed and pickpocket sometimes!
I do get caught but most of the times i get one or two succesfull stealing attempts.
The skill is about at 50 now (partly due to practise).
However i haven't actually pickpocket anything really usefull yet!!
Is there an NPC who has a good item you can pickpocket but not buy???

Yeah, Tramain is carrying the Ravensbill halberd, and Antone has the Faust Halberd. The only other place I've seen either of those is in the queen's chest in the Rapax castle. Of course, the one time they showed up, they showed up together (!), and I already had both of them

Burz, by the way, has an Enchanted Bow, and I have never seen that anywhere else in the game, even as a random item. It's very nice to have at the start....if you can get it from him!
