Very little difference. In one case (Mt. Gigas), you pass through a series of caves that finally lead you to Bayjin. In the other, you take a path that leads directly to the island.

As far as your second question, I'd love to know the answer to that, too. I still haven't found it.

Not much difference, just start in different places on the map. And yes somewhere in the shallows is where the coral is I believe.

The main difference is that the land route is much faster and less of an aggravation. I did the "from Mt. Gigas" route only once. After that, I went in from the swamp.

Of course, you still have to go through the shallows and past Nessie to reach the Sea Caves.

If you never fail to get Excaliber sword, you must enter from MT GIGAS Root,or If to get Light Sword, enter from Swamp Root. Because the contents of treasure chest of Davy Jones Locker or contents of Shipwrecked locker are set at your first entering Area. And both chests is at Bajin Shallows area.

Well, you can get to the Shallows from Bayjin, so it's easy enough to save before entering. But that's only if you want to try for Excalibur. And it usually takes many tries, since the contents of Nessie's chest are random.

**LIGHT SWORD SPOILER BELOW**
corrects misconception about where LS is

The Light Sword is not actually found in a chest. As you kill the Buccaneer Ghosts one or more of them will drop pouches. The Light Sword may be found in one of those pouches. It is randomized when combat starts, so you don't have to reload before entering the level (like with Davy Jones' Locker), just reload before the combat.

The LS does, in fact, kick butt.
