My fight with the breeders was particularly easy, mostly because at this point my Bard proved to be extremely invaluable. Her "Siren's Wail" at the first round basically guaranteed victory. The insane breeders either kept whaling on each other or doing nothing, making it easier for me to wipe them out. What's more, they tend to block the entrance of the door making sure the other ratkin can't get past to attack.
To beat the breeders I would suggest using Siren's Wail or some other insanity inducing spell/artifact, the Breeders actually did half the work for me, reducing each other's hitpoints by around 40%. |

I've been playing the game on novice, since I don't care for hard combat in RPGs. My party was around tenth level when we got there, and we had little trouble with the breeders. My fighter is wielding bloodlust, so he does around 150 points of damage per round. The rest of the party does another 60-100 points, so they died pretty fast. They do hit hard though.
I actually had more trouble with the rattkin goons and snipers that showed up after we rested after the fight. Be careful of them after you kill the breeders, they're pretty tough. Make sure you fight them on the catwalks, so they can't surround you. |

150 points of damage per round??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Holy CRAP! Im playing on average or expert (depends on what Im fighting) and the best my Lord can do with "Bloodlust" is around 90-110 points off three attacks per round. Also from what I hear, you don't get the nicer loot on the easier play levels. |

Oh yeah I forgot to mention...about the Breeders...first off if your fighting something "new" always remember to right click on the monster so you can see its stats and resistances and tailor your attacks. Secondly, I beat them by useing a scroll of haste on me and a scroll of slow on them...wasnt even a hard fight in my encounter.

My characters had a nearly impossible to win fight with those fat *&$W#$!@'s! I don't remember what levels we were when we finally won the fight, but we almost didn't get out of the rat tree alive.
My Lord is weilding Bloodlust...lucky if he hits anything and I've never seen over 30 points of damage! What are the stats on your guys' superheroes that they can make use of its worth?! My guy obviously needs some help! Thanks |

My strategy: Always weaken them with magic first, then go in for the kill. My bard consistently plays the Piercing Pipes, and my Dracon ranger breathes acid, while my Mage throws fireballs to begin with, then Magic Missiles and Whipping Rocks. Meanwhile, my fighter is whaling on them with berserk attacks, using the sword from Cierdan's tomb in the Monastery. My Psionic (decided to use one) first casts "Insanity" on the group, then uses "Hypnotic Lure" to pull some of them off me while they stare at the pretty dancing colors...LOL! The priest is casting "Rest All" every other round to bring back the player's stamina, and every so often, Vi will cast "Stamina" on either the Bard or the Ranger.
The fight went pretty much without a hitch, and I'm playing at Expert level. Just use your magic! Don't worry about losing mana...you can always rest it back up again. Fuzzfas' is a fairly safe place to rest. -Sazerac |

From what I've been reading, Fighters will always be better in combat than hybrid combat classes. My fighter typically goes twice per round, with 2-4 swings each at 20-40 damage per swing. If the critter is webbed, paralyzed or unconscious, he can easily do 50 damage per swing. Since he's a fighter, the only skills I've been improving are sword, close combat and shield. The only stat's I've been raising are strenght, vitality and dexterity.
Interesting note. If you right click on the shield skill, it mentions that it improves defense with shield, but also improves penetration when you attack. That may be why my fighter is seeing higher damage. |

Hey Virgil!
That IS an interesting note! Esp since my Ninja just swiped a Dragon Kite shield from Antone and I equipped it on my Lord ![]() I will have to see what kind of improvements my Lord shows with this shield now, thanks! ![]() |

I believe that the key to winnig tough battles are the magics that affect status. I use a lot paralyze against big baddies, insane (siren's wail) or silence against spell casters. Then, once they are affected, they take more damage and you almost never miss. So try some status change magics. Good luck.
