I take it you to help him along? Only that he's 38th level and quite a bit of tough. But it doesn't change anything if that's what you mean.

Killing Marten wont change anything later on in the game. I make it a matter of importance to kill him since he made me run around so much for the lousy helm of serenity. Crock's another thats always on my hitlist once ive milked him for all the spellbooks i need off him.

Amen to that. Bloody Marten, think how easier life would have been if he just left the friggin' DD at the Monastery.

My post contains what some may consider spoilers...

Actually, for some reason I think that Marten stealing the DD was more good than bad when you consider the story of the game. I've actually considered that Marten stealling the DD was written by the Cosmic Lords with the Forge, because if he had not done it and thus turn it into such a mess to get, the Dark Savant could have just taken it from the Monastery easy. By stealing it and leaving the vague hints with the Trynnies of where it would be, it buys time for the "Third Messengers" which he knew would arrive (as I assume that's part of the knowledge he got from the DD). What I don't quite understand is just how much of the game to Ascend was played on by the Lords, because I think they could have just offed the Savant with the power of the Forge, but they never did. Maybe they just wanted to give the guy a bit of a break after all that happened in the Circle *shrug*.

And, much as I loved the game though, any Wiz 7 players a bit confused with the way events pass on from it to this one? At some point you get a sort of a hint that it's been a long time since Wizardry 7, but at other times it seems like it's only been a few short days. Not only that, but also the role of Phoonzang in the Wiz 7 mythos is quite different from his role in Wiz 8 as Phoonzang was supposed to have only created the world of Lost Guardia to guard the Astral Dominae, which was an artifact into which he encased knowledge he had discovered as a mortal, his life's research. According to Wiz 8, he also created Dominus and the Higardi and all sorts of other stuff that should have predated the creation of Lost Guardia *shrug* (pefect example would be that Dominus is supposed to be the first world to have been created if I understood the story correctly so indeed was a long time before Lost Guardia existed).

Hi y'all!

Thanks for your replies, very helpful!!! I just gave that big ol' lady a hit on the head and thought, well, level 14, let's try a level 38 guy, but didn't want to make any trouble for later, since I'm going on peace mission...

Never forget your towel, cheers

Silverthornne:

Agreed it does add to the story.

My problem is that i have this really bad habit that urges me to hit something when an NPC makes me chase my tail just so i can retrieve an item before he will even deem to speak to me. (Marten wont even talk to you properly if you dont have the HoS (Helm fo Serenity).

Crock i just cant stand him cause he kidnap's my characters and once when playing a solo ironman game i forgot to kill him before snagging the idol. (solo char gets kidnapped and thats *Game Over*).
