I have been lugging around a book of portal through about 3 levels of my VAL. She just made level 15 and is able to read it. Then I find out that it is SET PORTAL only (well, it did say that ). What good is SET Portal without also having Return to Portal?

I decided to go back and do the level up again and select Return to Portal -- which automatically gives me Set Portal all for the same spell pick point. GRRR.

I believe (if you look hard enough) that there are actually three complete pairs of set and return portal books scattered throughout the world. I don’t really remember where to find them all, though. I never bother to use any of my picks for that spell – I just wait for the books.

I think one is in Trynton and the matching book is in the Hogar cave in the wilderness just north of Arnika road...

i understand your pain i did very nearly the same thing my first time thru the game. however, i mess around a lot, and had tried clicking my spellpick before activating it and saw that highlighting one of them auto-highlighted the other. i was fortunate to have 2 spell casters, so we all learned from my first mistake.

here's a list of location lists for finding all the books ingame, and what books each vendor sells.

it's a definite spoiler, so don't go if you don't wanna know! LOL.

Got it, and saved it off to a txt file for later. Thanks. I'll use it to check for other level 5+ spells I might want but don't need to spend spell picks on.

I really like the portal spell, especially now that I have five people who can cast it. My mage has had it for a while, but the other four just leveled up to level 15 and grabbed it (my bard will just have to watch).

Book in the Hogar Cave in N.Wilderness is a set Portal.

Return Portal books can be found - Marten's Bluff, Bayjin, Dungeon in Mountain Wilderness.

Ferro sells them also.

Welcome Vesselle.

As for my list somethings wierd with it,

Braffit doesnt have Heal wounds listed or Banish and he sells both of those

Also i cant take credit for most of those found books as that was compiled by another on the VN spoiler board tagged onto my own post
