Heres an interesting twist. My fiancee liked how the game looked so she decieded to create a party and play. She got to arnika and listend to myles to goto the crash site to save teh woman. She went in and entered teh left door first. She killed the mobs but she was not there. She said that when she left that room that the other door was now knocked over, claiming she never entered that room.
I guided her back to check it out myself, but she was not there. I took her to the inn, to see if she was there...she was not. I should have her take a look for VI at the temple too...assuming she will not be there. Has this happend to anyone else? Do you know where else she may be? What shall she do. |

I had this happen myself on my 2nd time through the game and couldn't find her.
I ended up reloading from just before I entered Arnika and going straight to the crash site. On my 1st reload Vi wasn't there but the baddies were, same as my initial attempt. On my second reload, she was. The 1st time and 2nd time I hadn't recruited Miles, but on the 2nd reload (3rd attempt) I did. It shouldn't have made a difference but that might be an option to try. But you definitely have to do it from a savegame before ever entering Arnika.

Perhaps she was killed while attempting the rescue. That was a concern of mine when I saw her taking damage while attempting the rescue.

quote: Nope -- unlike the shopkeepers and other NPCs who have static HP, none of the recruitable NPCs can be killed unless they are members of your party. If you've ever noticed, their HP change from something like 78/78 to ?/?. I watched Vi take something like 100 pts of damage before I managed to kill her guards my first time through the game. Then I recruited her and she only had like 48 HP. That's when I realized what was going on.

Well, I can tell you now that she doesn't have a save game prior to that. Could that mess anythign up in the later game? I know it mentioned to me that she is needed for something by the dark savant.

I know Vi has a part to play at the endgame but I don't know if not finding her at this point is going to be a problem later on or not. I would suspect, however, that she's probably "hard-coded" into the endgame and it doesn't make any difference if she's been found, saved, killed or whatever. I can't be sure of that but having seen the endgame once (well, three times since I wanted to look at all three endings) that is my surmise.
If your fiancee doesn't want to restart the game, she's probably okay to continue. At worst, Vi just doesn't show up at the end and you miss some dialogue. AFAIK, there's nothing during Wiz 8 that the DS ever needs her for because he already took it from her at the end of Wiz 7.

Yeah, I noticed that with Myles, who had a lot more hitpoints outside the party than in
![]() But I don't see how Vi could be killed. She's a Valk, after all, and they can cheat death. In any case, no, you don't actually need her in your party at any time, including Ascension Peak. Despite what you hear in the game, she isn't necessary. The designers may have had it that way originally, and changed their minds (good thing, too). Still, it's odd she wasn't there for the rescue. Never had that happen to me. Something to do with the patch, perhaps? |

I've never had it happen to me, but I did see a warning somewhere about disabling the thugs, otherwise they kill their hostage (Vi). Maybe that's what happened.
