I think the game becomes too easy at the end, ie. through the rapax castle and ascension peak. The battles were much tougher when I was coming out of the monastery and travelling through the swamp and sea caves etc. but by the time I had reached ascension peak it was a cake walk.

Well part of the reason is because my party is at a higher level (22) so they were more effective, but shouldn't the mobs have been made a lot tougher to compensate? The final battle (if you choose it) between the dark savant was laughable, he was gone in 3 rounds with little damage to the party. In Baldurs Gate series the final battles were damn hard, even with high level characters and the best items.

Well, I don't know about you but after the many levels and the ordeals the characters went through, wouldn't you expect them to be stronger by the end? Also there is one pretty big consideration to take in mind when you compare the endgame battles in Wiz 8 to the BG end battles. In Wiz 8 your characters are becoming gods, they do become quite powerful. In the BG games you are pitted against gods, so to say as your powers are constantly getting stripped down (at least the godly ones). Sarevok as the main char's brother was as much of a godling as him but higher level and with powerful helpers, Joneleth Irenicus in SoA is arguably powerful enough to be considered god-like even before having taken the character's soul (I think any D&D player will agree, a high level magic user is the most powerful class), and Melissan in ToB is another story on her own.

I think the break point to generate a new level of monsters is every level with 5 inside: 5, 15, 25...

So I suspect you bumped in monsters from level 15-24 with your level 22. That makes it easy. Just level up to 25 then go back AP and you will see. I went to AP to make some XPs when I was arround level 18 and that was hard but fun. But if I come back now my team is level 20 and more it will be much much easier.

I suspect that if I speed up a little the game I will enter AP for the final round with a team arround level 22. That mean it will be very easy. I even thinking to level up to 25 before the end. But I'm not sure your level do affect the bosses.

The Dark Savant I found to be incredibly easy. Round 3 he was toast. If I did not have to advance to him, I would have had him in round 2. And the creatures he summons are pathetic. But then again there were 9 of us and only 1 of him.

The only real question I have is how 9 people are going to share the cosmic forge. Why wouldn't the one writing just write the others out of existance. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Haven't gone far very far in Wiz8 yet, level 10-11, but so far the fighting in Wiz8 is by far much harder than in BG, BG2 and in the exp sets. Joneleth and Mellisian was a walk in the park compared to the first Juggernauts i met. (Maybe because I did all quests in BG1/2/exp. set)

Heh, guess it all depends on personal play preferences. Personally I found that once you fully understand formation and member placement, battles in Wiz 8 become MUCH more manageable. Don't be shy about changing your character's positions in the formation box between rounds, move during combat to find that perfect spot to defend and not be flanked, etc. Once you take care of those details in a Wiz 8 battle it becomes quite manageable and fun (and you can actually stay alive through very challenging fights without needing to do any reloads to a previous save file). Sadly, as much as I enjoyed the BG games which I do as they're some of my faves, I just found that too many of the important battles required you knowing beforehand what you were up against and thus properly preparing (by reloading the save you did before getting trounced and doing the proper arrangements) for them or otherwise find some cheesy strategy to avoid frustration.

Gothmog - I found it much easier to gain levels and experience in Wiz 8 than in the BG series (something I liked about Wiz 8). In BG I would fight many battles and not gain even one measley level. Also are you saying you never had to reload once when you fought Irenicus, Melissan, other dragons etc? They were very tough battles. If you fight the Dark Savant you will laugh. With the Juggernauts simply run away, level a bit and then take them on, should be no sweat.

Silverthornne - I agree with you about BG, you couldn't ever just walk into one of those big battles and expect to win first go. You always had to reload, find out what you're up against and cast a mammoth worth of preparatory spells and try again. It kind of got tedious and boring and the battles weren't as fun as Wiz 8.

I would say though that Irenicus is my faveourite bad guy of all time.
