Ah, Excalibur, sword of kings...
Now that my Drac fighter has this baby, along with his ever-increasing Powerstroke skill (and a song of Armormelt or two, courtesy of my handy bard), well, life is good (for me) and short (for almost everyone else). 20+ Rapax of various occupations? How would you like that hamburger cooked? Golems alore? Don't waste my time. Yep, life in the melee lane is nice round these parts, especially with my Bloodlust equipped Samurai and Saint Bastard wielding Lord thrown in. Plus my bud RFS-81, armed with a handy mystic spear. El Dorado was El Shikabob in record time... ![]() |

Ahhhh.......how sweet it is!
Isn't it great to finally kick some monster butt!!!?? After so long of running in terror, trying to find a corner to hide in....... My party is level 19-20 in the Rapax courtyard...even tho' the enemy numbers is staggering.....my front row fighters are finally slicing and dicing like uhm......well.....warriors or something.....*evil laugh* Let them die........let them all die... |

gawd, i am so jealous. i have killed nessie 10 times and i still do not have found excalibur in that stupid chest. i am now to the point that i am doing one nessie a day to see if i am lucky because i cannot afford to kill nessies all day .. and i keep telling myself "if excalibur is not in the chest this time, i will not try again". ofcourse i try again.
i hated the fact that i missed excalibur in wiz7, so i _shall_ find the damn sword in wiz8. |

You're not alone Lok. I've had no luck at all with the random items and whats worse is I sold the items that Ferro needs to make the custom items.
Still, my guys get the job done no worries. |

quote: You don't have to actually kill Nessie each time if you want to save yourself some hassles. What I did was 1) Save my game just outside the Bayjin Shallows to allow randomness 2) Save my game under a different name just after entering the Bayjin Shallows. I had my buff spells up and also cast Chameleon just before dropping down onto Nessie's area. When I hit the ground, I headed to the right and can make it behind the rocks without Nessie seeing me. Normally I can make it all the way to the other end of the rocks without her spotting me. At that point if she didn't initiate combat, I did and sometimes I surprised her. I then ignored her completely and each round I did a flat-out run for the cave with the chest. I normally lost one or two characters by the time I got into the cave and waited for combat to end (it usually took a total of 5-6 combat rounds from start to finish). Once combat ended, normally with Nessie right outside the entrance to the cave, I would go over to the chest and open it to see what was inside. If it wasn't something I wanted, I reloaded from step 1 and had only taken 5 minutes to get to that point since I didn't waste tons of time killing Nessie. If it was, I reloaded from step 2 but this time I killed Nessie instead of ignoring her. I ended up with five different saves post-Nessie that I then had to decide between as to what I wanted to keep. I ended up keeping the one with a Ring of the Road and Tinker's Carryall Band in it as well as an Amulet of Healing because I wanted those more than I wanted Excalibur. I don't remember how many times I ended up reloading from step 1 but it was under 30 I know so the total time spent to get what I wanted was maybe 2 hours tops. Besides, when I got down to attack the Buccaneer Ghosts, I knew I could get myself a *Light Sword* or two if I played it right. I was correct and ended up with not one, not two, but FOUR *LS*, two of which I later sold so I could play with the Ivory Blade. (My four sword-wielders ended the game with 2 *LS*, the Ivory Blade and Bloodlust, which actually did more damage than the *LS* because of the Berserk-mode - especially since I didn't have any Fighters who could go Berk naturally). The first time I went into Bajin, I found a light soward and 2 light shields. Now I have a new party and have gone in cold at least 10 times and found nothing but junk. I think the game knows that you are running a second party and punishes you. I should have just kept the first party, they killed Nessie in three or four rounds with no deaths at lvl 18. I have a feeling I'm not going to repeat that either...

I found it in one of the two chests. I don't remmeber which one. But like I said, I saved just before entering with a new (different) party and have reentered at least 10 times and never found anything really nice in either chest

First time through, I got the Ring of the Road extra value pack in Davy Jone's locker; had to reload (and kill Nessie again) to get Excalibur... I didn't know about the 'light sword', guess I'll have to find that next time...
