quote: It does work if properly applied. What you need to do is get rid of the read-only attrib on your files. I advise highlighting all of the files in the root Wiz8 directory, right click and then choose Properties and then uncheck the read-only. Then reapply the patch and you should be okay. If you get any warnings at all saying a file couldn't be overwritten then you might need to do this same thing in your sub-folders.

I DID change all the files in the Wizardry 8 directory so they are no longer read-only. Guess what happened? NOTHING!! I ask one again: What do I do after installing the patch?! Please provide me step-by-step instructions.

1) Download the patch to your "C:\" drive
2) Start your Unzipper program 3) Within the Unzipper program navigate to the patch file such as: C:\Wiz8Patch2001_12_23_release.zip 4) When asked where to unzip the files navigate to your Wizardry 8 folder such as: C:\Program Files\Sirtech\Wizardry8 and select all of the files contained within the .zip for extraction. 5) If a dialog box appears stating that "This file already exists. Overwrite?" say Yes. You may have to click Yes twice. That's it.

Make sure that there is a directory called 'Patches' in your Wiuzardry 8 directory with a 507K file called 'PATCH.001' in it.. If there isnt, the patch wasnt installed properly.

FIRST) Make a folder named WIZ8 saved games. Or another named you
like. SECOND) Copy your original Saved data to WIZ8 named folders, because of corresponding to unfortunate error. THIRD) UNZIP patch 2001.12.23 using WINZIP CLASSIC mode to adequate folder named WIZ8PATCH. Because WinZIp auto mode cannot run correctly. Then overwrite ALL Unziped patch to real WIZ8 program files. So work cooerctly. I did this way to 2001.12.23 patch, and work correctly. |
