How can I cause the artifact boost on identifying found articles to go to the character I want?

I have a bard who I want to be my artifact expert (skill is now 31, just left the monestary at level 7).

But my ranger seems to keep doing much of the identifying of new objects and has his skill level up to 17 without ever putting any level up points into it.

Is there any way to practice artifacts skill?

I have two things that are not identified -- a blue potion and a bunch of bombs/sticks of some kind. These were picked up early in the monestary and I'd think that my bard ought to be able to identify but she can't.

You can't control it, it just happens In my party I often see several characters getting boosts to the same skill, communications for instances after talking to NPCs, IDing items and spotting monsters.

It really doesn't matter which character gets their skill up first the result will be the same.

If your Bard is at 31 and every one else is at say 1-10 it will be easyer for them to get the skill up from use, ie 31-32 could take 6 identifed items where 1-2 could take 2 identifed items.. so your Bard will still get the uses of the skill just takes longer at higher level to gain skill points from use.

Don't get mad its not like the guy with 1-10 is going to over take the 31 because they start taking more identifed items to advance in skill.

You can have artifacts boost by using items that require the artifacts skill.

Aside from combat only items, the best item to use are mana stones. Use them until it has one charge left, then recharge it by selling it to a shopkeeper (cheap/free mana without resting )
