Man, talk about tough decisions when your casters finally hit level 11. My Alchemist hit it last night in the swamp after I finished stealing from Croc.

What to chose: Summon Elemental? Toxic Cloud? Portals? Purify Air? I must have sat at the spell selection screen for 20 min trying to weigh the pros/cons of each choice.

The decision of portals were a moot one, as I had gotten lucky and found both Set Point and Return spell books before I made 11. So now my choice was really between Toxic Cloud/Purify Air/Summon Elemental.

In the end I chose Summon Elemental. I figured he would help more often in more battles than if I took Purify Air for the seldom times I fight casters (who aren't already silenced) and my party gets area effected.

I had the same tough choice with my Bishop when he had to choose between X-ray and Soul Shield. I took X-Ray and I am damn glad I did.

I know the battles become more magic oriented pretty soon, but for the time that I've had Summon and X-Ray, I'd have to say those have by far helped me more immediately than the others would have.

What did you guys choose when you had to make the choice?

i agree with you that the portal spell is WERY innportent i hadd do the same my self.
Also that "Summon Elemntal" is maby not so interesting because i find the Elementals as bad fighters they only stay there and do nothing but when they have an nice bunch in to the enemy they do lot of damage! The best elemental to fight i must say is the Air Elemental Lord!
The Purify Air spell is not so innporten before you enter the "Rapax Rift" then that spell is wery innporten when Rapax Templars, Rapax Priesstes and many more in the Rapax Rift that send "Cloude spells"

And "Soul Shield and Elemental Shield" is a must!!!! get them ASAP they reduce all magic attacks wery mutch!! Alvais cast those spells when getting atack from an magican!

here's a little spoiler for your Alchemist

Fire bomb + Ice bomb = Canned Elemental

Knowing that i went with Toxic cloud. If you start the battle far away, Toxic clound and Acid bomb them ring of fire and who ever is attacking me will be taking 20-30 Damage a round. Very nice when you get a large group attacking, by the time i killed 2 i am able to take 1-3 monters out a round.

gotta agree with goumindong on that one. i have 3 ice bombs on me in this game and i thot i might be on a finding spree... but nothing. they aren't sold either. so that's kinda nobrainer in my groups.

i learned a long time ago, that even tho the game provides you tons of cool stuff, never rely on it. esp if you're basing battle strategies on an attack.

You also need 95 in alchemy to make canned elementals. You can find and buy many more than you need by that time (unless you spend all your time practicing combining potions).

I must be pretty lucky then. I found about 6 and i am at level 10/11. Wasn't hard to up Alchemy, him beening my main Spell caster. He just gets used alot. I am also playing on Expert so theres a lot of resting going on so he's got full Mana for each battle.
