I once had a friend who asked me "Why do you ask me all these stupid questions?" My answer was "Because you have all the stupid answers!"

I'm looking for that friend now because I've got a great one.

In combat, the number of opponents, type, and a set of three numbers appears at the top of the screen. (8 Vampire Bats 8-3-8) Something like that. As I stare blankly at the numbers, they change, obviously giving me some vital information. The worst part is that I am certain I used to know exactly what they meant. I looked through the manual to no avail. Even they must think it's so simple it didn't need to be written down.

Here's the deal! If someone will answer my stupid question, I won't plead guilty to Alzheimer's but I will plead to Halfzheimer's.

This was alraeady asked, and answered here: http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/cg...&f=15&t=000293

I know because I learned it there too! Although it doesn't make a lot of sense, the first number is number of creatures in the group, right after the title, 5 Higardi raiders, so I already know how many!

Acutally, the answer provided is not quite correct.

The first number is the number of active "monsters" in the group. Those sleeping, frozen or unconcious will be deducted from the number.

The second number is the number of monsters that are in range/are targeted for the selected character. For an experimentation, try switching characters before starting combat and watch the numbers change.

The third number is the monsters in view. This is in the window view, not the view of the character selected.

Good luck.

Knarfling.

~~blackraven~~

LOL! "halfzheimer's"!! i remember that discussion. it had me rolling!

~~knarfling~~

just what IS meant by window view? does that mean me, the player? so if i skooch the window view to the left or right, is that number supposed to change?
i just ask because, altho i swing my window around (usually trying to see if there's anything i can back up against), i haven't noticed that number changing. only when they run away in terror (my clowns must look scary to them) or slink back trying to fake me out.

If I remember correctly (I wont be able to get back to the game until later tonight), I may have been wrong about the window on the third number. It shows those that are not hidden and that can be seen by any character. If the monsters run around the corner the number will drop. If your characters run away and are not looking back the number will change. But you are correct, if you scroll the window, only the number in the center will change as what is targetable by that character.

The great thing in this game is that you can click nearly everything with the right mouse button, even those creepy numbers. And it is really the window you are currently seeing, so looking around should change the last number (maybe not if your group is sadly surrounded, but that should not happen )
