Too much time?

I just entered into Chapter 5 and I am 50 days into my adventure. Am I taking too long to advance,I like to clear a map before I move on to the next and I am searching all around and talking to NPC's all over, Will this hurt my game?(I have most of my quests done so far) I have yet to visit all the maps down south and middle and figured I will do this now before heading north, is this a good idea or not?

The only time there's a time limit in the BG series is when that time limit is specifically stated. If a character says, "You have 3 days to return this item to me," or "We've got to get there in the next 8 hours," they mean it. If no specific time limit is given, there isn't one, no matter what might be happening: If somebody's house is burning down, it will still be burning down a month from now.

Thanks SixOfSpades I can continue to search around then. I am really enjoying taking my time and looking around. I found something I never found before. Well I haven't been that far before as I stop playing the party if the main char dies. I have seen alot of parties go, but it has also helped me discover some good ways to get through a few areas without being killed. Chapter 5 is the farthest I have been. Everything from here on is all new, so I am looking forward to it.
