BG I... those were the days. When you wondered where the hell that Long Sword +1 was instead of wondering if you can do over 500 damage with a backstab. I like BG I better, most sequals aren't as good a sthe original.

When I first started, I was a Theif, and had put all of my points into lockpicking, thinking the other skills were useless. Going up the steps, I started looting every single chest I could find, until I found one I couldn't pick. So for about a half hour, I was picking the lock over and over and over. Finally it opened, and lo and behold! A Star Sapphire! Sold it for a thousand and was well on my way.

If any of you have funny memories, share em here

BG1 was my first experiance with AD&D roleplaying, I was more of a Final Fantasy veteran at the time...

I remember confusing myself for ages with THAC0's, what the +1's meant etc.

It's not a funny momemnt per ce, but it's a little memory where you have to laugh at yourself!!!

They don't have to be funny, just fond memories.

My first char was a fighter and I was exploring the first map just out of castlekeep and saw a bear. I said ok it has a blue circle so it will not hurt me and started walking past it to explore more.(now mind you I liked to live off the land when I played other RPG's so I had on no armor) The bear hit me and my body exploded into little fighter kibble and bits. Oh I forgot to mention I didnt save anytime b4 that.

1 game where the sequal was better was Diablo II. Don'y get me wrong Diablo was a great game but D2 is way better.(modded is even better)

let's see. the 1st minute where I opened the game, I couldn't figure out how to move the screen around. My very first thought was 'this game sucks!' but then i finally figured it out accidentally

I don't really remember my first character. I am pretty sure it was a druid. I was visiting a friend who had it so I got all sorts of advice.
Still I played non-stop an entire weekend so by the end I was actually able to give my friend some hints and new treasure locations .

BG was my first true rpg game ever ( board or pc), having played the likes of zelda and such.

With my first character I played for like a week or so, getting deep into the naskel mines ..... and stuck. I couldn't get it for the love of got why I would want to take a mage along. There were so little scrolls to find and I couldn't buy new ones anywhere at a decent price. That's when I noticed the "write magic" button on the scrolls and looked it up in the manual (had hardly read it until then).

I never felt so stupid in my entire life, I just restarted completely having wasted all good scrolls in one go.

LOL, yeah, I used the play these games alot, but I haven't played in a while. I 've played WOW, GTA: San Andreas and battlefield 2 now just recently, but I got bored so I installed this again and .... BG / ID series are still the best games available.

I've now started with BG1+TOTSC, not sure if I'm gonna continue with 2/TOB or first play Icewind Dale + exps first.

Then It's Icewind Dale 2 and then Neverwinter Nights + exps, hopefully just in time for Neverwinter Nights 2......... Guess I'll cancel my social life now. .
