I just finished reading this and looked for a thread discussing it. It was a great wrapping up of all the loose ends and unanswered questions. I thoroughly enjoyed it, though I would comment that she has shifted her style from what was quite a dark form (the Fitz monologes in the earlier Assassin series) to something that is several shades lighter. While the earlier books are my favourites, I really like the way she develops her characters in the telling of her tale. Some of the bit part characters like Hap and Web were really bought to life, and one wonders if this is just Hobbs thoroughness or pre-work on future series.

With this series completed it will be interesting to see whether as a writer she will shift to a new world setting or follow the Raymond E Fiest pattern of contining in the world that you have created and just advancing the time of the next stories. I perhaps see stories involving the dragons centered about Nettle - Dutiful and Web and Hap etc as the main supporting cast - appearances of the fool - the return of the Bingtown characters from the Liveship traders series.

Great books thus far in an enchanting world, and looking forward to more great things from Robin Hobb .

Im currently reading "The Golden Fool" and after that will be moving on to "Fools Fate" I have thouroughly enjoyed the serious so far and the golden fool is great. So is Fools Fate definately the last book concerning Fitz or will there be another trilogy?

With Fitz as the central character - my guess would be yes, this is it.

No - it was carefully structured not to be - of course there will always be people who want to read too much into things but I can't help it if there are vivid imaginations out there.

Ok I finished reading the book a while ago and I remembered this thread and thought I would comment:

The book overall was good, very clever when he "comes back to himself" if you could call it that. I thoroughly enjoyed it but when it got to the end I felt it finished a little to abruptly for my liking (unless there is another trilogy)
It was nice how everything was wrapped up but I would have loved another 100 pages (although i say that about every book!)

If there was another trilogy about Nettle, Dutiful, Web etc. then I would like it if at the start it summed up the rest of Fitz's life if he wasnt going to feature in the trilogy. I also felt at the end of "Fools Fate" a mention of the fool would have been nice, although I understand why there wasnt. I would also hope to hear of him if there was another trilogy.

Also, this thread was started a few months ago, so surely by now some others have read it. what did u think?
