I'm considering DLing this mod, and playing the whole series from the beginning. What's it change in BGI? Where can I find details about the mod?

Go here..
http://www.pocketplane.net/mambo/
This will tell you what you need to know, also you will have to change some files manually, so it is very helpfull to be CP literate. You will enjoy the Mod, I can tell you that. I also recommend the "Indira" Mod. It adds a new F/M female NPC that has killer voicing!! Valley girl goes adventuring!

If it links everything together, doesn't the mod some how force you to take Minsc, Dynaheir, Imoen, Jaheira and Khalid? What if these NPCs die in BGI? Can you go back and forth between the two (three) world maps?

OK, I'll go check the link.

What TuTu does is allow you to play BG1 with the BG2 engine. There is no going between games and no multiple world maps. There is a mod called BGT that takes BG1/TotSC and BG2/SoA/ToB and turns them into one big game. But that conversion Mod is a 650 MEG download, so I never tried it 'cause I'm on dial up.

I will also recommend it (and just downloading Indira, thanks Elfbane!) - make sure you pick up the banter packs for much expanded conversation. BG1 in high resolution - yummy!

You are not forced to take any NPC's - Khalid is already dead in my fledgling game and this does not cause problems.

What happens if Minsc, Imoen, or Jaheira die?

Well,,, then they die. I don't know what you have heard about TuTu,, but it does not *require* any sort of party lineup. What you are doing is playing BG1 with the BG2 engine,,,, AS I SAID BEFORE!?!?! So what part of what I said before do you not understand?

ElfBane is quite correct - there is just an inconsistency in the game if Jaheira (for example) dies in BG1 - she'll still be there in BG2. This same inconsistency would have been there in a 'normal' BG1 game too.

Tutu does not change the game story. As has been said, people dying in your Tutu game will have no effect if you choose to then play BG2.
