I'm wondering if anyone has managed to get their hands on Ilse Witch; The Voyage of Jerle Shannara by Terry Brooks, or The Skies of Pern by Anne McCaffrey? How are they?

I have read some Terry Brooks and some Anne McCaffrey before but not these books. Can't say I enjoyed Brooks that much. It was long ago when I read some of McCaffrey's, can barely remember them.

Funny that you mention both books, Lioness ! I have bought them both, they are currently on my nightstand, but I didn't start any of them yet. Why ? Because when I will open it at last, it will be over waaay too soon ! I think I will wait until August, when I go in vacation.

I am at my local library, and have found Ilse Witch!!! It comes after the Heritage of Shannara series, and deals with Walker Boh. I can't wait to start it!! I will let you know when I am done how it was.

I've read Ilse Witch. I've read the entire Shannara epic to dat and highly rated Terry Brooks as a writer until recently. After plowing through the Scions of Shannara series and now moving on to Ilse Witch I'm finding it a bit repetitive. In every book you've got a highlander of the Leah family who is a carbon copy of every other highlander of the Leah family, Walker may as well be Allonon and the Ohmsfords are always the typical country bumpkin's caught up in something beyond their understanding. That said, I did read it all the way through and I will read the rest of the series when it comes out but I can't help feeling that I could just as well have read any of the other Shannara books a second time and not even realised it.
