Okay I know this is a really over asked and over posted question... but I'm a bit stumped on what to do... (sorry in advance)

Here's the deal, I've decided to play BG1 again (2nd time) after playing BG2 for like forever. Anyway I don't know what character to play (class, aliment, even name? ect.). I'll start by telling you all what characters I've already played.
-All through BG1 I played with Megan a human pure class mage of neutral good aliment. (Party consisted of Minsc, Khaild, Jaheria, Imoen, and Dyheria)
-Then in BG2 I played with Emily a elfin mage/thief also of neutral good aliment. (Party consisted of Minsc, Valygar, Jaheria, Viconia, and Imoen/Yoshi)
(I've dabled with others, but never taken them all the way through)

I want to play female (because I am and that makes it easier for me) and for role-playing reasons I’ve always wanted to play a half elf. I don’t know if I could live without my magic. But seriously anything is an option...

After reading this it might give someone a clue as to what I would enjoy. Please any help would be appreciated. Oh and I will not start playing and creating this character until Fri. night. I have a busy week. Thanks!

-Maj

Edit: Oh and one more thing this character is going to BG2 after...

Well, of course, I'm a fan of the paladin myself...though really, one can have a lot of fun playing a strange character...I'd suggest trying to get through the game with a character you never would have thought able to get through the game before...like a dart master fighter or something!

i say this to everyone but for a completely different style of game try a smaller party (3 or 4 total) - a solo character is a very specific thing

'different half-elf female with some magic' says "bard" to me . . . i say this to everyone as well but as you have BG2 have you considered installing the BGTuTU MOD and playing BG1 with the BG2/ToB game engine? you could take a bard kit then for a bit more oomph . . .

Since you have BG1 and BG2, why don't you *tutu* your game and play a "wild mage" from scratch? It was fun for me when I upgraded to WM upon starting BG2. I think it would be better to play a WM from BG1's beginning!

Half Elves make damn good rangers actually, you could try that... especially if you're gonna import your character into BG2, because rangers get priest spells at higher levels. You could try being a thief, but you'd really wanna be a halfling then... anyone for a kensai/thief?

The Tutu mod always looked a bit complicated to set up to me, but I could give it a go...

So Ranger, Bard, or Wild Mage hmmm, they all sound like excellent choices. I think I might go over to user polls and start one, then I'll play the one that wins. I will play with a smaller group too sounds fun.

Thanks for all the advice!

Okay started the poll, here is a link:
