anyone here have good ideas for builds to specifically survive Lizardmen?
I mean, if it can go through the Proving Grounds, then it can take on the Lizardmen, right? I was hoping for a barbarian who could do it, but I made her all wrong and will have to start again from scratch. Would the best way to simply take one (or two) of those Epic Builds off of the NWN website (at http://nwn.bioware.com) and rebuild one of those rote for rote? And here with my level 24 barbarian I thought I could go to the Trollbark and beat everything. Everything... except for Elan AND those darned Lizardmen.

*sighs*

Well, they're rather hard to hit and hit rather hard so your best bet is staying away from them. Sorcerers are a reasonably good bet, but you'd do well to bring your friends and meatshields along as well.

The temple battle in the trollbark dungeon is great with two tanks, a mage/cleric type, and an Arcane archer. I'm not crazy about the build posted at bioware, but the build that TDC put up here was pretty good.
The best things to do with the builds on the epic page is to print the lvl progressions, and then adjust according to need while building.
The fighter/rogue/weapon master; dagger build I made did reasonably well in there, and in the tourney as well. The kicker is, that build came right out of my head, no cheat sheet for that one, I actually built him for Muriel's little dungeon.

The Trollbark Dungeon can be done solo.

I don't use spells so I can only talk from a fighter's perspective.

Any build that can hand out frequent critical hits with damage of 100+ has a good chance as long as he or she gets their retaliation in first.

Main hazards seem to be the death attacks of the lizard fighters (fight two or more at the same time and one is likely to get a death attack in) and the lizard priests who cast implosion (immunity to death magic is no help against that) while you are engaging the fighters.

For attack, being a Weapon Master is a big help in Trollbark. In defence, the death attack can be limited by damage reduction (armour or Monk based build) or blocked completely by a Pale Master's immunities. Implosion doesn't seem to work against a high fortitude score - a Champion of Torm build might help here.

After that there are only the lizard monks, army commanders, wizards, etc to deal with.

There is at least one item that gives immunity to sneak attacks, and if you are immune to sneaks, you are immune to death attacks. Implosion is catch as catch can now, but a high fort save is a good bet.

Pharun's armour.

I was forgetting about that. Don't think it's a spoiler to mention it as it is available in certain shops.

There are three versions of it about that I know of. I have seen heavy armour, light armour and robes. There may be more.

I tend not to use it as there are other armours around which I think give better AC and other benefits - even against death attacks in Trollbark.

Just use the Protection from Critical Hits small shield available at your better dwarven merchants.

Will that stop the death attacks? I know that immunity to lvl ability drain helps to neutralize them some, but that you still take the xd6 dmg for the death attack. Immune to crits is a good thing, as we found out in our duel, but I wasn't aware that it would counter death/sneak attacks. A side note on implosion, there are plenty of protection from spells potions floating around...

The Palemaster has immunity Immunity to Crits & sneaks. Could be handy if you want to work it into a build.

I have bard RDD/Palemaster in EfU. It is an awsome tank as in soaking up damage but lacks that real punch in attack.

Has an AB of around 50-60
