A few days ago I went on a rant in the thread concerning BG3 and that led to this posting...

I am inspired by that rant about being loyal to characters and whether or not you ended up missing things because of that loyalty. So last night I started going through BG again and I am trying to do it all different. I am using a combination of Edwin and Kivan to replace my dependable Minsc/Danyher team. Instead of picking up Branwyn I am going to use that Drow Cleric chick...ya'll will have to help me with her name...I am going to replace Imoen (oh just that thought saddens me) with the Gnome outside of BG and I am working on a replacement for Jaheria as I have decided to keep Kahlid around and let her get killed off for a change. Any suggestions on her replacement would be appreciated.

So in the past my party was almost always without fail:

Me (either a fighter/thief or a conjurer)
Jaheria
Imoen
Minsc
Danyheir
Branwyn

So this trip through I already have:
Me (halfling fighter/thief which is a semi-deity due to a spectacular fourth re roll)
Edwin
Kivan (the Dwarf from Beregost)
and although I am still presently with my core Khalid/Jaheria/Imoen Team I am looking to replace them like I stated above. Replacements for Jaheria can forward me their resume care of this thread.

The drow you speak of is Viconia. She becomes very...interesting in BG2.

I like to keep Imoen, since she can duel to mage at 5 or 6 and get to a respectible lvl by the end of the game. However, since you are playing with either a fighter/theif or mage, dueled Imoen seems pointless. Here's my idea:

You
Kivan (hasted with longbow of marksmenship! YAY!)
Minsc (fun to play, and Dynaheir had an "accident"
Drow cleric
Dwarf fighter cleric
theif of your choice

I think the Dwarf from Beregost is called Kagain, Kivan is the ranger at High Hedge

I'd replace jaheira with Viconia and forget Khalid. He sticks to jaheira as strongly as Minsc with Dynaheir and accidents tend to backfire. If you want to dump Imoen go with the thief to the west of High Hedge (the light house area): at least she is more interesting. Also, Branwyn and Kivan like working together, as does Khalid and Kivan. Edwin, is unknow to me, I just kill him usually in BG and I didn't like him that much in BG2.

I can't remember if the dwarven merchant fighter who is hiring guards for his caravan would be interested in staying with the group or not. There is also a decent Paladin you run into in the Farmer area before Baldurs gate. If your into Amazons just beat the one in the area where the bassiliks are.
