I recently started a new game, with a Barbarian as the main char. And since I thought the two-bladed sword looked I cool, I bought it from Osgerd.
It's damage is 1d8/1d8, meening that it should deal out 2d8 damage per hit, right? Plus that my character has 16 str, which should do even more damage. But every time I attack an enemy, it rarely deals out more then 5 damage. What's up with that?
Is it only my bad luck with the dices, or does the game only roll one dice per successful hit?

i think that means EACH blade does 1d8. or maybe its 1d8 vs small AND large creatures, i have no i idea. i believe that its 1d8 PER blade though, since you can hit with either or.

the blade counts as wielding two weapons, each blade does 1d8 (the second is considered a light weapon) there is a bug where you don't get penalized if you don't have (improved)two weapon fighting and ambidexterity which by the rulebooks you need, but if you focus on it (and get imp critical) you can get the uthgardt ceremonial blade (keen) and do a critical hit on 15-20 (fully 30% of your attacks)

Ok. So you're saying that I should invest in Ambidexterity and Improved two-weapon fighting?

That would be pretty much essential when using any double weapon (orc double axe, dire mace, etc). Either that or get one level in Ranger (which gives you Ambidexterity and Two-Weapon Fighting for free at 1st level) - this may be cheaper than waiting 3 rounds to get two feats.

if/when they fix the bug it would defintely be a good idea, unless you don't mind fighting at a -8/-8

Two weapon fighting and ambidexterity are the two feats needed. The improved two weapon fighting comes after you get those first two (gives you an extra attack with your off hand).

If you are a fighter, it won't take you long to get those (if you just started, and are in the prelude, then you might just want to start over). A human fighter get 3 feats at first level, which allows you to take the weapon proficiency exotic, two weapon fighting and ambidexterity needed to wield a double weapon at full efficiency. Other races get only 2 feats, so you'll probably have to hold off on ambidexterity until you get to level 2 fighter (the prelude is a cakewalk, so you should have no problem doing without until level 2). Once you get those 3 feats, you are all set.

Okay. I just created a character. As this was a Prelude Character, I just ran a quicky fighter with high dex. Made her human, took dual-weild, ambidexterity & exotic weapons.

Pillaged and looted and bought a 2-bladed sword, found a club, had a s. sword.

The two-bladed sword shows as ONE attack at +4. The club/s.sword combination showed as TWO ATTACKS. One main hand, the other off-hand. Each at +2.

If a "dual-bladed" sword was "dual-weilding," I should think it would be clear... Or is there something hidden? Or are you speaking from the perspective of the 3E rules, rather than the GAME RULES?

(had to look this up) when wielding two weapons the second weapon only gets 1/2 your strength bonus(to hit, and damage) I'm assuming it uses the same strength bonuses for each hand, as opposed to getting 1/2 the bonus, if you also have weapon finess then I'm not sure how this would affect things... I don't have 3ed rulebooks (and refuse to get the crap WotC/Hasbro has been pushing out as dungeons and dragons) so someone more familiar with the rules please correct em if I'm wrong

I chose to play a Ranger, just to have the ability to easily use that Two-bladed Sword, since it is the newest weapon introduced in CRPGs. Yet, I am killing alot better with a Great Sword (Two-handed sword) than I am with ANY two weapons that I choose. I can't understand it.
