Hi

I guess that this has been answered before, but I'll ask anyway:

I have the following problem:
I have downloaded some protrait pictures for my Player Character (both a large and a small version). The files are named (ex: less than 8 characters): DarrylL.bmp and DarrylS.bmp. I have put the pictures into a portrait directory under my BG1 directory. When I choose customize/Appearance/Custom from the menu, I am able to see the files and choose them for the medium and the small picture respectively. And now to the question:

It doesn't work - all I got is a question mark icon indicating that it does not work - WHY? - What did I do wrong?

Are the sizes correct?

What ~-bit format are they saved in? Is it 8-bit?

I downloaded them directly from this site (ie. IronWorks) and saved them in the portrait directory.

This one I'd think:
http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/bald...ortraits.shtml

Sizes are 110w x 170h and 38w x 60h.

The readme tells us:
Quote:
Custom Portraits

The measurements for player portraits are 38X60 pixels for the small ones
(8-bit color only) and 110X170 pixels for the large ones. Put these in
the Portraits directory (in the install directory for the game) and add a
S to the end of the small portrait name and an L to the end of the large
portrait. The names must be 1-7 letters long, maximum.
For example:
XXXXXXXS.bmp for small (38x60, 8-bit)
XXXXXXXL.bmp for large (110x70, 24-bit)
For multiplayer, each player must have a copy of the portraits, otherwise they will
see a blank icon where the other player's custom portraits would be.
It looks like the IW portraits fulfill these requirements and therefore should work.

EDIT: No it doesn't, the readme claims large portraits should be 110 x 70 in one place instead of 110 x 170 as it does in the other. However, the 110 x 170 is indeed the correct size.

Exactly - I DL'ed from that link and did what the description told me to do. I even tried to DL and use some portraits from other sites, still without success.

I am running DSotSC 1.3 (b I think - The latest version anyhow). I do not know if there is a bug in this MOD that would affect customization of the appearence.

to make sure it isnt a problem with the size or anything go to the link on my sig and dl one of those portraits. They definately are the right size because when u dl them u have to specify what game you are gona use it for so that you get the right size etc sent to you.
