Well after a long hiatus I have returned to the Ironworks RPG boards. Of course it is still, in my opinion anyways, the best and most friendly place to go and discuss CRPGs.
So as my first post under this new login ID, I thought I would ask what character all of you are playing in NWN? I went with a Human, Neutral Good, Fighter (Gladiator). He specializes in long sword, bastard sword, great axe, and two-weapon fighting. I've reached the end of the first part of chapter 3 and am currently level 13. Hello, I went the treehugger route with a NG Druid dual-welding scimitar and club. Currently She is 8th level druid/4th level thief in the middle of chapter 2. Favorite spell is call lightning, and I cant wait til I can use maximize spell with it!

I think my character may suck. When I first created a character I was under the assumption that I would get NPCs (meaning more than one). So I went for a Paladin Inquisitor. Now I'm just not so sure if this is the character I want. Kinda sucky in fighting, can't cast anything beyond Laying hands (which is so lame why bother), can't pick a lock, can't cast anything. Blah. I figure I'll continue until I can't anymore, then just start a new character according to what I read here of successful characters.

I went with a Halfling Thief--sorry, "Rogue". He's third level and as one might suspect has a hard time with the more martial aspects of the game, but he's doing okay. With persistence the Persuade skill is working well. Gave him Parry, too, which seems to suit his high dexterity nicely.
Halfling Thief was the first character I ever played in D&D back in the Borderlands module (nod to Maxx Steele's separate post on his aspirations at recreating it for NVN!). He got killed a couple times but his thieving skills were top notch by 7th level's Giants module. Reliving the "glory days" don't you know!

LadyZ, try going rogue for a level, it helps with the locked chests. You still cant open everything, but it helps! Is your Paladin not kicking ass in combat?

I'm not sure you could rogue for a level if you are a paladin. If you are at wits end Ladyzekke, try grabbing Tomi Undergallows as a henchmen. He's a capable fighter and can pick locks for you. He's saved my finesse fighter (eighth level elf, dual wields shortswords. Just got improved crit and now he's a machine) a great deal of headaches from the traps. Don't be too discouraged about your paladin. They are a neat class and very powerful. But only worth it for about 5 levels. Then I would switch over to fighter if you want to beat things down more, or a priest if you feel that's the way your character should go.

I'm running mulitple PC's.
For my solo campaign, I have a Half Orc Barbarian, Skurge Skulkrakker, specced in the Double Axe. Great fun. Him much stupid. I have a slew of pc's for multi player, figuring I can use what the party needs most.
