If it's a little scratch it shouldn't matter. If it's a nasty scratch, perhaps you could polish it off with the proper equipment, although you'd be better off getting a replacement. If it's a really deep one, definately send it back and ask for a new copy.

You can indeed get to Nashkell without stopping at Beregost, but I think you'll want to visit the place sooner or later anyway. Just... get it replaced.

For BG, there's a lifetime replacement service, it'll cost 5 pounds in postage and packaging and the details are on page 155 of the manual.

Crack implies its all the way through, and if the data layer is broken (thats the shiny bit) the disc is a coaster. Worthless and irreperable. If the data layer is intact you can usualy fix it with one of those resin kits you can buy, or a skip doctor if your feeling rich.

If you do decide to try fixing it yourself, be careful because CDs are not very robust. And I dont know if Bioware will replace a disc thats been glasspapered and resined. You may also be able to find a computer shop that will resurface the disc for you.

Also, I heard that bioware have suspended the lifetime replacement outside the US. Which is a bit of a bugger for the rest of us.

Is that right mate? Bit of a bugger, but I suppose it's okay, as you can buy BG/TotSC together for a reasonable price these days. Bit much if you only want one CD though. I guess we can't expect them to carry on forever though...
