where can i find NPC's

hi
have a nice little party. but got problems beating certain opponent, the warders.
keep on losing people, the best i get is three out of it alive.

so i was wondering
firstly, if you pick up new members for your party, do they have same exp level?

and
secondly
where are they all?

i currently have khalid, jaheira, quayle, misc and dynaheir.

any better characters i can pick up? it'd be nice to get a good archers or two but i can't find imoen again.
so where can i find them?

NPCs in the game slowly change to match your level. Correct me if I'm wrong, but every NPC in the game is within two levels of the PC.

[EDIT: This does NOT include Imoen if you booted her from the party, nor does it include any NPC you speak to and decide not to keep. Their level stays the same as when you found them the first time. Thanks for clearing that up, gang. [img]smile.gif[/img] ]

When you dump Imoen she stays exactly where you left her.

The warders... hmm. There should be at least two npc´s relatively close, but of course you could do cloakwood first (if you havent already) to find VERY decent comrades. So many we meet are.. lacking. This was probably no help, but it´s difficult to say for sure with that information given.

IIRC, they stop at clvl 6. I also have a suspicion that taking them into the party, even once, makes them stop doing that. I've not confirmed this, but I am fairly confident on the clvl 6 thing.

They'll stop advancing the first time, you talk with them.

There are multiple "incarnations" of each NPC. Each "incarnartion" has a different EXP level, and those with more EXP have weapon proficiencies and Thieving skills to match their level, and their Inventories and Mage Books change a bit as well. (Example: Pick up Kagain as soon as you can, and he'll be wearing Chain Mail. If you wait until much later, he'll have Splint or even Plate. And depending on when you recruit her, Dynaheir may or may not know Fireball.)

Which of these "incarnations" you actually get depends on your level: The game checks your EXP, and assigns whichever incarnation most closely matches that EXP. Most NPCs have no incarnations of a level higher than 6.

Some incarnations have lvl 2,4,6 version while others have 1,2,3,4,5,6 version. Dunno why...

I've found that they are about the mean of your parties lvl's
