I have played BGI, BGII, and IWD HOW, is there much difference between these games and W&W.
Also is there anything I need to know or do before I start the game (patches or anything? ). |

Hi cemius!
I would say that there are many differences. The view in this game is first person, not the overhead view of the games like BG and BGII. Players who played and liked those games and then play W&W do seem to have some difficulty picking up on the controls but it can be done! ![]() THere is a patch BUT before you rush off looking for it, check the BEST TIPS thread (there is an index in the first post) - look for the post that tells you what the patch does and what it removes. If W&W plays well on your machine without the patch, you may very well want to leave it that way. I've never used the patch and never will. ![]() Not certain if the search function is working completely. There have been many posts comparing W&W to the likes of BG. I'm sure others will be along soon to tell you more. Wyv |

Welcome to W&W and this board.
Contrary to Wyvern (bless her soul), I play the game with the patch.. It doesn't make huge amount of difference, but I got annoyed with the crazy 'let's do a hakka dance' everytime I tried to pick something up off the ground, as well as removed a few of the bugs from the game (e.g. most of the repeated experience rewards, a few game hangs at specific places) In terms of the game, W&W is very different than BG in that not only this is a first person RPG, but also W&W is more of your 'classic type of RPG'. for me, W&W is about building a group of characters and watching them develop (or not, as the case may be).. Give the game a go and look forward to hearing about your exploits - you'll find that this board is fantastic for its friendliness and responsiveness.. |

quote: I gave the game a try, and seem to enjoy it so far. I see what you mean about the little dance, but if thats the only problem I have, it should'nt be to bad. Thanks for the help. |

I held off on applying the patch until I got stuck in Shurugeon Castle. Every time I tried to exit, the game crashed. Applying the patch took care of the problem.
