g force tnt2 problems

Is anyone else able to play this game with that card. I have a crash every five minutes or so. It's getiing to be very unplayable. I thought I tried everything
except replace the card and that I'll do next.

anth 750
nivida ge force tnt2 32megs 6.50 drivers (I tried the 12.41 but were worse)
dirx 8.0
sb live
win 98
defrag every day, added new memory to 256
I have tried it all Im going out of my freaking mind.
Is it the game or is that video card that bad?

My best guess is that it's the Direct X 8.0 thing...it's known to cause a LOT of problems with this game.

Try getting rid of it (check the "Help Desk" thread for a link to a utility that uninstalls Direct X 8.0) and reinstall DirectX 7 from the W&W CD-ROM, and try that out.

Also, try upping your Virtual Memory (swap file) to at least 300 MB.

I HAVE HAD EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM
MY MACHINE IS SIMILAR TO YOURS :- 1GIG ATH, 256MB, 32MB TNT2,
LATEST TNT2 DRIVERS, DIRECTX 8, SB128LIVE, WIN98.
MY COMPUTER FREEZES EVERY 5 MINS OR SO (I HAVE TO REBOOT)
ONLY WAY AROUND THE PROBLEM IS TO NOT USE HARDWARE ACCELERATION,
BUT JUST USE THE SOFTWARE DRIVER (SELECTABLE IN THE OPTIONS OF THE
GAME). YOU DONT NOTICE MUCH DIFFERENCE IN THE GRAPHICS. I HAVE TRIED
DIRECTX 7 AND IT STILL DONE IT, I HAVE TRIED OLDER DRIVERS FOR THE
TNT2 CARD - NO BETTER. THE GAME HAS NOT FROZE ONCE WHILE USING THESE
SETTINGS. HOPE THIS HELPS.
