Just a little tidbit after fighting with running W&W on Win 98 w/ DirectX 8a installed. After trying everything I could think of to combat the crashes to the desktop, I finally tried going back to the original drivers (version 4.12.01.0530) that came with my 3D Prophet II MX card. Lo and behold, no more crashes! I was using version 4.12.01.0650, dated 12/04/2000 and also tried the Detonator3, version 4.13.01.1100, 03/06/2001. Both those drivers caused crashes to the desktop. I'm currently downloading the Detonator3 v12.41 drivers to see if those will work. I'll post later with the results but I thought there might be a few people out there who might try this as a fix.

Greetings and welcome, Legacy.

You will find more questions and info on GeForce2 MX in 'Scazeracs Help Desk' thread. ( The best place for tech related issues )

I'm just about to get a GeForce2 MX Prophet( see my post in the above thread ) and you may have answered one or some of my questions for me? I would be happy if you could check out my post and help me out.

Do the dungeon graphics appear greenish with your current MX configuration?

I am using Det3 12.60.. I was using 6.50.. no differnce in the crashes. and I have green tinted dungeons. I cant get rid of direct X 8 becuase other games require it, and the 12.60 drivers are really fast with other 3D games. I dont want to change that by going back to ancient drivers!

I've noticed the greenish tint is worse just entering the Crypt. Not too bad in the other areas.

Believe me, I didn't want to revert to older drivers, but I couldn't even play the game for longer than 5 minutes. I know that it's got to be because of a combination of drivers/dll's or something because I didn't have the crashing problem when I first got the game. Since then I've had to redo my machine because of a new hard drive and afterwards couldn't play because of the crashes.
