Returning the Scroll of Banishing from the dungeons will result in a key or a ring from Adrianna. The key is used to gain access to the Lich's study and the ring will help a character survive as a vampire. Note: picking up the ring in an unpatched game will cause the game to crash.

She gives you an option to turn Vampire - unless you are "patched" and can use the ring, I wouldn't advise it.
