Vanish Doesn't Work After All??

Tired of tree-hopping I was going to try to use Vanish to get to the Lost Sea in my present game. All my chars have a Sorcery level of 10 or higher, so it should have worked. I let them stand at the extreme northern part of Talrik's area, but Vanish failed every time.
Has anybody been successful with this (there was a thread yesterday, but I didn't want my post to get lost) and where did you stand?

I've never had much (if any) success with Vanish. I got it to work once in the Bersault Cemetary but that was it. I think it's some sort of bug that keeps this from working. However, I've heard of people using it in many ways that I can't get to work, such as getting into Kerah's Shrine.

Don't get me wrong, it usually works for me - I could even vanish to Doshi Gin's area before visiting Boogre Prison and I vanished Grue Morde who's molesting my party before any of them have changed to Assassin, but it just doesn't seem to get me to the Lost Sea.

There are places around the Lost Sea that are extremely resistant to Vanish, Create Portal, and Teleport. Move over to another area and try it again.

Bear, where did you cast Vanish? I assumed it worked for you, since you brought it up.

I've never been able to do it! Every time I try it says " casts vanish but it fails." Am I the only one that can't get it to work?

I'm curious, what's your sorcery level and the character's role level?

when ever i use vanish i takes me 10 feet in front of where i am and i try it again and it takes me 10 feet behind wher i started.... so i use portal and call home

Adam, sorcery lvl is between 10.52 and 11.30 and they were lvl 11 in their current role.

I'm afraid that I don't remember the exact spot where I used Vanish.
What I did do was go to various likely-looking places (only a small
line of trees separating two open spaces) and cast Vanish once at each
of those places until I found somehwere that it worked.

I think that I had to Vanish myself into the "leprechaun area" first
and then work my way over to the Lost Sea (again with more Vanish spells).

However, once you're there, cast a Create Portal and you're all set. (Not
all Cet though, that would get you pursued by hundreds of Mavin-wielding
would be "Chosen Ones"!

Bear, I couldn't get it to work in spite of sorc lvl 11. Started trying near Talrik's place and when that didn't work, I went east along the shore line. So I got in by tree-hopping, and now I'm half through Anephas's Shrine, so it doesn't matter anymore.
