What is it with those Flesh Golems in High Hedges ? A lot of people have said they get into a fight with them (and lose) but I never seemed to have that happen to me. Then recently one of my party got killed by them and I couldn't see why. When I studied their behavior more closely, the Fleshies appeared to be friendly most of the time, but they occasionally flashed to red. If I had the AI switched on this would start a fight, but if AI was off then we ignored them and they go back to blue and move away. Can anyone confirm this, or offer a better reason for the unpredictable behavior of these Flesh Golems.

Ps. Why is the place called High Hedges?

I always just kill them after the chiken quest and the mage there too...good xp for a young party...and fun too especially if the chicken quest fails.

Killing the mage???

Ok - I do not expect that he drops all the goodies, that he normally has up for sale. Will you not miss some af the items he sells, after you killed him.

Personally I always kill the golems (magic arrows/bolts from my mages/clerics and thieves and magic weapons from my melee fighters).

Insane

BTW. Why is it more fun to kill the mage if the chicken quest fails?

Thalantyr (the mage) will drop Potion of FR and a Potion of Genius, which can be stolen as well.
Easiest way to kill those golems is a backstab with a Dagger of Venom.

That's all very well, I don't want to kill any of them, I just wanted to know why they sometimes attack me without provocation. Is it to do with how long I wait before speaking to the Mage? I look upon these Golems as friendly pets, belonging to the Mage, there really is no need to kill them.

No need??

Well - I need the 4000 XP - and besides that I regard the two golems as a 'test' made by the mage, to see if we are worthy to speak with him

In my experience, the Golems are always Hostile when I enter High Hedge, but when I speak to Thalantyr, they go Neutral, and stay that way unless I attack them or fail to Pickpocket them. I've never heard of them "occasionally flashing to red" like you describe, Midget Gems.

I find that the best ways to kill them involve either speed or poison. Mages have a hell of a time against them, due to their high Magic Resistance. (Which brought my only Solo Conjurer game to an abrupt halt.)

i don't remember them being hard to kill. and i did that early in the game when none of my party where much better than level 2 or 3 and only had normal weapons.

but then i realised it was more useful to keep thalantyr.
though now that i've leanred how to steal, i may just pillage all his goods and then get rid of him.
depends on my mood.
does your rep go down if you kill him, i don't remember

you can slay the golems in front of him without thalantyr attacking, least i could. But if you attack him then id guess your rep would go down.
