Hi

Is there any way to sort of quick grap my shield, if I change from a two handed to a one handed weapon using the quick slot?

Example: My Archer/Melee fighter carries a bow in one of the weapon quick slots (I am then not allowed to wear a shield in my shield slot). When an opponent appears I fire some quick arrows, before engaging in melee combat. It is easy to make the change from the bow to the long sword by means of the quick weapon slots, BUT I would like to wear my shield as well together with the sword.

Question: Is there any smart technique for doing that fast, without opening your inventory?

To the best of my knowledge that is a limitation of the game and you have to go into inventory to add the shield...which by the way you can not do without placing your bow in your pack.

Yeah it is a little annoying.

An option like in Diablo II "Throne of Baal" where you have a backup set (armor, weapons etc.) could have been nice.

I hated not being able to do that. The game would let me pause and change stuff around so I was always being attacked while I switched.

i loved that backup set idea in diablo2 was superb idea, meant i could switch from main weapon to an all elemental attack weapon if opponent was immune to physical & go to bow weapon too if need be, only problem was it didnt mix n match straight away so i ended up with not as good armour or shield

As an archer, the simplest solution I found was to give myself a two-handed sword, spidersbane is a decent choice.

in overall combat terms sword + shield is a better combo than two handed weapon, though as an archer it matters less cept vs other archers, but shields provide alot of protection and single handed weapons hit alot quicker and do almost as much damage as twohanded anyway, plus twohanded are normally 1d10, 2d4 (bastard sword) has better minimum damage (with my luck i need it ) i prefer the guarantee of 2 to the guarantee of 1, also means the averages are better and i hit more often, a higher maximum doesnt help overly much, though spidersbane is a very good weapon, theres better longswords about when coupled with shields i find.
