I found the Alter of Serran and prayed to it (it's in my characters journal) but the Quest giver (Dornash) won't give me credit. Took about a week off from the game and now I can't find the alter again. Where is the alter of serran?

Did you go to the Temple, or to the Warrior's guild, after praying? You have to go to the temple to gain Paladinship, even if the Warrior's Guild gave the quest. There's several ascensions like this: if you choose the Bard quest from the Wizard's Guild, you have to go to the Thieves' Guild to complete it, or the Samurai quest must be finished at the Bushi Dojo, regardless of where you started it (Wizard's or Warrior's guilds).
