Why? Because u have the ultimate weapon called reload! Sure, it does get annoying, but WHO CARES! I eventually get Drizzt's scimitar +3 and stone to flesh scroll from this anyway! So those who think 25 is a HOPELESS skill number, THINK AGAIN!

I thought the number was modified by difficulty, so against a hard target 25 had a 0% success rate. I know for a fact that trap disarming and lockpicking work that way. (I experimented on lockpicking over 1000 times)

But it might just modify it for merchants. Or not at all. I dunno.

Try doing that against Drizzt, Gorion, and Scar.

Now why would my paladin kill Drizzt or allow a thief in her party to pick Drizzit's pocket? (Just my role playing aspect coming out there. )

because he realises that for the greater good and to triumph that its required to have quality weaponary therefore getting the best stuff off drizzt will help save the sword coast

bg isnt much about rp though as if it was you'd have far more interesting dialogue options to explore, its mainly about hacking & slashing and to hack n slash with the best of em a +5 weapon is needed, though im making do with a +2 i think
