Twas my first lesson in humility in the game . . . we felt he was a threat to Gareth and attacked him and we died very quickly. Then I had some problems and started my game over . . . this time I just followed him . . . not sure what I thought I could do . . . and he came to the walls of Valeia and faded away. :0

My son started a game along with mine & being 9 he decided that if the Traveler outside of the Eastern Valeia Gate was probably the assassin that killed poor Gareth with Poison, then she should just off him right then and there.
He attacked the Traveler, who seemed very annoyed with his foolish attempt, then the Traveler just dissappeared with a warning that he would return. Did anyone else attack the traveler? Did you kill him or did he vanish? Does he come back with a vengence? More importantly, does Gareth still die? Just wondering. |

The game won't let you kill him (yet). When you attack him he's impervious to all your attacks. So just say your prayers for Gareth; you'll not be seeing him anymore.

NO, NO, NO, you can kill him just fine!
Out of sheer curiosity, after I reset the game and before I started my new party, I had my old party, enchanted weaponry and all, go out and attack him. He /started/ to vanish, but my people took him out before he managed to disappear. It wasn't much: he dropped nothing of value and was worth very little exp. BTW, Gareth died just the same |

Hey, he would only ignore me; I never got him to attack me! What did you do?

Oh, carg, the problem is not getting him to attack you, but rather managing to kill him before he becomes fully invisible. I don't recall if any spells work on him, but super weapons seem to be the quickest route -- my party had swords and daggers doing max damage between 40 and 50, and only *barely* managed to get in the last blow before he fully disappeared.
carg, talk with others: Did anyone else have problems getting him to attack you? If you attack first, he usually throws in a kick or two and then wanders off and casts invisible on himself. Quick kill -- an Assassin with Deathstrike would do quite nicely, I'd imagine. |

I attacked him first...swung at him with a plain old longsword early in the game & he took my guy out for it with one swift kick in the...uh...head.

Thanks, Carg . . . see what happens when you give up coffee, well caffiene at least? Isn't this the fellow you kill later in the game as a guild quest? If you kill him at the beginning is he gone forever? Or is he one of those things that comes back over and over?
