Heck, I am well into HofW and have yet to figure this one out. If I don a piece of armor that say it allows me to cast a certain spell once a day, how do I access this ability?

Haven't played HoW for a while, but I believe it is like BG and BG II. If you equip an item that has spell abilities, look at the satchel/bad icon on your character when you click on him/her, it should be lit up now. The icon is right next to where you select your spells I believe (or very close to it). It opens up all the spell casting choices you have from items, as well as a small number that says how many times you can cast this spell. Does this help?

should read "satchel/bag" icon, not "satchel/BAD" icon. My bad.
