When I recently went from the first group of caverns (where you fight the Barghest Whelp and spiders) into the second maze of caverns (one that starts with a fight) and now my game lags every 2 seconds or so. It's not really a big problem, but it is irritating, and I don't know what's causing it. My game was fine up till then...I have the patch installed, but nothing else. Any help greatly appreciated!

Sometimes it lags for me too there, but nothing really serious. After that it gets better.

Unfortuanately it is a common bug with no definite solution. The lag happens only at the horde fortress. There was a thread about it not long ago but I cant find it now.
What you can try is if your using Windows XP and have access to an older OS then play there. Otherwise right click on the IWD2 icon and under compatibilty tab make it compatible with windows ME/98. Are you sure you got the latest patch?

Yes I have the latest patch, 2.01, right? If not, could you point me in the right direction? If you could, I'd be really grateful. But if the lagging disappears after a while, that's fine, I can live with it. It's just that I don't remember it from playing before a year ago, and that was on a WinXP machine...with no patches.

A while ago someone made a patch to fix this problem, but I don't remember where it was. You could try searching the forum for it.
