I have IWD2, the official patch, the slow down fix, the ammobelt patch, the clerics patch, and Dale Keeper II. Everything has been working fine. I used DK already to create the characters from IWD1, since I couldn't convince it to import for some reason. I have a character who is a 3/2 Monk/Sorcerer; I am leveling her up to the 3/3 level. Her order allows multiclassing with Sorcerer with no penalties. I am at the point in the adventure where they tried to wreck the bridge -- but I managed to save it, with losses. I went back and got the two deaders (including her)resurrected. All five of my other characters level up fine; but when she tries to finish leveling (after taking a feat), I get the following message: "An Assertion Failed in InfScreenCharacter.cpp at line number 3107."
Can anyone help me? Is my save file corrupted beyond repair? Why this particular character? I have tried picking different feats (Discipline, Two-Weapon fighting, and a second level of large swords. All fail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I would rather not have to try an recreate this character again with IWD2 and re-add her (if that's even possible!)Thanks for your help ahead of time! Jturtle |

That happened to me, only I couldn't load my save files instead of levelling up my characters. The only thing that worked for me was reinstalling it...its a major pain in the ass but...its the only thing that worked for me

I've never heard of this bug, but if I had to guess, I'd say it's a problem with the editing or one of the mods. Maybe your character has a feat or a spell slot it should not have and this is crashing the game.

I'd agree with Luvian - perhaps you've added something using DK2 that you shouldn't have done, and it's causing the game to crash - this is a common problem when people get carried away adding feats and skills that conflict with class/alignment etc.
If you have a save game from before your monk/sorceror died, load it up and try adding enough experience to level up using the ctrlaltdelete:setcurrentxp command to see if that character will level up OK. If that doesn't work, if you've edited the character, try doing the above with a pre-edit save game. That may help you to work out what is causing the problem.

Dear folks,
Thanks for your help. I got past it by manually levelling her up in DK2. Then, the next level as monk went fine. We'll have to see what happens when I next level up as Sorcerer! As far as extra stuff, I haven't used DK2 to give any feats or items until now, and it was one highlighted in the game as allowable. All I used it for was to recreate the stats of characters from my DK game, and add 2000 XP to some so that changing the races to Aasimar or Tiefling didn't leave others behind -- esp. with the Targos mod added (I forgot to mention that before). Anyway, it seems OK for now. I say, thanks to the creators of DK and DK2! You rock! Jturtle |

Dear folks,
If anyone cares about bugs, it is definitely with the sorcerer aspect of the character. I uninstalled everything, reinstalled only the game, the patch, and the slowdown fix, and dk2. Then I started over, not using dk2 for the first two levels. The game still barfed when I tried to multiclass. I think that the game simply can't handle monks multiclassing, even though the game gives it as a choice (telling you that the order of Mystra or something like that can multiclass as sorcerer -- but you have to be LE). I get around it by using dk2 whenever I want to level up as sorcerer, but it is a pain. If I am missing something, let me know. Turtle |
